Peligros de la Pornografía

Millones de personas son atraídos por los peligros de la pornografía con la accesibilidad tan fácil de la pornografía por Internet, acompañados por la percepción de aislamiento (privacidad) y del anonimato. La pornografía del Ciberespacio es altamente adictiva y extremadamente perjudicial para la intimidad en un matrimonio.  Con sobre el 95% de espectadores que son masculinos, el efecto de la pornografía sobre intimidad es complicado puesto que es fácil que las esposas subestimen sus malos efectos. Como barrera a la intimidad, el ver pornografía habitualmente crea paredes inmensas entre los matrimonios: culpabilidad, expectativas sexuales poco realistas, comportamientos adictivos, y el deterioro de la confianza, por nombrar solo algunos.

ESTADISTICAS:

- Sitios web pornográficos: 4.2 millones (el 12% del total)

- Búsqueda diaria de Pedidos de pornografía: 68 millones (el 25% de peticiones totales)

- Correos electrónicos/Emails diarios: 2.5 billones (el 8% en total de correos electrónicos/Emails).

- Usuarios de internet que ven pornografía: 42.7%

-Ofrecen pornografía infantil ilegal: 100.000

- Ventas mensuales de pornografía: 4.9 billones

- Cada segundo: 28, 258 usuarios de Internet están viendo pornografía en el Internet.

- Cada 39 minutos: una nueva película de la pornografía es creada en los Estados Unidos.

ALGUNOS PELIGROS DE LA PORNOGRAFIA:

1. Adicción:

La experiencia del despertar sexual puede ser intensa cuando ve pornografía y como resultado, una adicción puede que sea una consecuencia muy fácil de obtener. Para responder a los impulsos del cuerpo para “otro golpe” refuerza un hábito que llega a ser extremadamente difícil de romper. Las combinaciones a las respuestas físicas y psicológicas lo hace algo similar a las adiciones de “crack cocaína de la adicción sexual”.  La adicción misma se convierte a través de etapas progresivamente peligrosas: adicción, escala, de sensibilización, y después actuación sexual. Los peligros de la pornografía son evidentes con cada etapa más destructiva que la anterior.

2. Destrucción de la Intimidad:

La intimidad se basada en la confianza y el compromiso. Los peligros de la pornografía se pueden considerar como desgaste constante de esos valores y calidades. Casi sin excepción, los esposos guardan su inclinación a la pornografía en secreto sin que sus esposas se den cuenta. Por largo tiempo, los resultados son culpabilidad y aislamiento: el marido se retira emocionalmente y se encuentra en una esterilidad del alma. Él ha perdido cualquier intimidad experimentada con su esposa, y ha descubierto que la pornografía inicialmente lo excita pero, sin lugar a dudas, decepciona.  El sexo sin intimidad es hueco y vano. Con todo en el marco de intimidad, el sexo es una manera impresionante para que un marido y una esposa conecten emocional y físicamente: ¡tiene la capacidad de proporcionar verdadera intimidad, alegría, y la satisfacción sexual!

3. La disminución del Entusiasmo y La Satisfacción:

La investigación ha demostrado la repetida exposición a los resultados de la pornografía no sólo en un despertar sexual disminuido pero también una disminuida satisfacción sexual con su esposa y la sexualidad de la esposa.  

4. Desesperación:

Los peligros de la pornografía vienen con un precio oculto! Muchos hombres se envuelven en la pornografía para intentar de satisfacer cierta necesidad, o por simplemente curiosidad y entonces rápidamente descubren que es un hábito destructivo que los esta controlando. En esta etapa, la intervención del exterior es generalmente necesaria. La confianza en un amigo o un consejero es el primer paso de la jornada a convertirse nuevamente en una persona libre. Desafortunadamente para los hombres que intentan ocultar su adición, hay un dinámico espiral de culpabilidad, vacío, aislamiento, y pensamientos pervertidos. El final de esa desesperación espiral es la desesperación.

5. Pensamientos Torcidos y De sensibilización:

La pornografía deja la impresión que el sexo es tener una relación sin amar, el compromiso o el matrimonio; y ese sexo irresponsable no tiene ninguna pena indeseable. La de sensibilización de la violación como crimen, las ideas falsas sobre el renombre de ciertas prácticas sexuales, y una disminución del cuidado de la sexualidad femenina son efectos adicionales de la visión repetida de la pornografía. Los peligros de la pornografía llevan a los hombres a encontrar más de lo que ellos esperaban al comenzar la trayectoria de la pornografía del ciberespacio. ¡Para esos hombres que buscan la libertad de esta adición, la ayuda está disponible! Primero, un hombre debe reconocer su pecado, y regresar al Señor Jesús por perdón. El necesita reconocer con convicción para recibir el perdón, él necesita entrar en relaciones de responsabilidad con otros hombres cristianos que también han encontrado la forma de liberarse de la pornografía. Los peligros de la pornografía pueden ser superados, y un hombre que ha sido atrapado una vez por pornografía del ciberespacio podrá experimentar una nueva vida de intimidad con su esposa.

1. PORNOGRAFIA= MASTURBACION:

La pornografía tiene un fin muy sencillo: la masturbación. Cuando alguien produce una película o una revista pornográfica (en una industria claramente dirigida al hombre), el objetivo de la pornografía es la masturbación. Aparte de esto, el objetivo de la pornografía y la masturbación es crear un sustituto de la intimidad.

Masturbarse es tener sexo con uno mismo. Si estoy teniendo sexo conmigo mismo, no quiero invertirme en otra persona. Las personas que son “adictas” a la pornografía, no son tan adictas a cosas morbosas como lo son al egocentrismo. Están comprometidas a servirse a ellas mismas para hacer cualquier cosa con el fin de encontrar una manera apropiada de no morir a ellos mismos, que es la naturaleza de la compañía en una relación.

El egocentrismo se pone de manifiesto de muchas formas. Cuando hable con personas que son pedófilos (pederastas), una de las cosas más interesantes de las que se dará cuenta es su tendencia a mirar a los niños como una pareja sexual adulta. Ellos no piensan: “estoy teniendo sexo con un niño”; intentan ver al niño como un igual físico, emocional y sexual. Lo contrario sería desplazarse del centro, ver las cosas a través de otra lente distinta a sus propios deseos y experiencias. Eso es morir a uno mismo, intimidad, compañía, eso es amar a otra persona, que es precisamente lo que no están dispuestos a hacer.

The father's influence increases as the child grows older. However, each parent is necessary at various times in a child's development. Both fathers and mothers do many intrinsically different things for their children. Both are equipped to nurture children, but their approaches are different. Mothers seem to take a dominant role in preparing children to live within their families, present and future. Why and How Are Mormons Different?
Representatives of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are often asked whether the Church is becoming more “mainstream” over time.

If the term “mainstream” means that Latter-day Saints are increasingly viewed as a contributing, relevant and significant part of society — particularly in the United States, where there are now some six million members — then, of course, the answer is “yes.” The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, founded in New York State in 1830 with just six members, is today the fourth largest church in the United States by independent estimates.

It follows that its members are found at every level of society — in business and agriculture, in education and the sciences, in political parties and in government, in the entertainment industry and in the news media. In fact, people are much more likely to be familiar with individual Latter-day Saints as friends, neighbors and working colleagues than they are with the Church institution itself or with its teachings. This also applies in many other nations outside the United States.

If being described as “mainstream” means the Church loses the very distinctiveness of the beliefs that are at the heart of its message, the answer is different. While respecting the divergent views of other people of faith, Church leaders want to be clear about the beliefs that help define Latter-day Saints.

The following are some of the more important differences in belief and practice between The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and other Christian churches.

Restoration

Because Latter-day Saints believe that divine apostolic authority was lost from the earth after the death of the ancient apostles, a restoration of that authority was necessary. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe that restoration began in the early 1800s with revelations to the young Joseph Smith.

Trinity

Among the most important differences with other Christian churches are those concerning the nature of God and Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Together, these form what is commonly referred to as the Holy Trinity in many churches and as the Godhead by Latter-day Saints.

Modern prophets, continuing revelation and new scriptures

Latter-day Saints believe that God still speaks to humankind, that He has called new apostles and prophets and that revelation flows today as it did anciently. Further, many of those revelations have been formally incorporated into new volumes of scripture. These include the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ; the Doctrine and Covenants, a collection of revelations to Joseph Smith and subsequent presidents of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; and the Pearl of Great Price, which includes the writings of Moses and Abraham as well as modern writings of Joseph Smith.

Plan of Salvation

Latter-day Saint theology embraces what Mormons refer to as the “plan of salvation.” The topic covers the pre-mortal state of all mankind, the reasons why God created the world, the nature and purpose of our life here and what future awaits us in the next life.

Temples and their purpose

The primary purpose of temple work is to “seal” or unite families together, with the expectation that those relationships continue beyond death. The same temple rites can be performed for those who have died. There is no counterpart to temple practices in other Christian churches.

Missionary program

This is a difference in practice rather than in doctrinal belief, since many Christian churches send out missionaries to preach the gospel. However, the missionary program of the Church is distinctive and recognizable for the sheer number and distribution of missionaries, for the length and variety of their service, and for their appearance and their preaching of a restored gospel.

Lay ministry

The Church of Jesus Christ has no full-time professional clergy at the congregational level. Even at the highest levels of the Church, leaders who are called as full-time apostles forsake their more remunerative professions in order to serve a lifetime calling as “special witnesses of Jesus Christ” and to oversee the Church worldwide.

Health practices

Abstinence from alcohol among religious faiths is not unique to Latter-day Saints. However, among Latter-day Saints abstinence from alcohol is expected to be total, as is the abstinence from tobacco, tea and coffee.

In Front Of You

Yesterday I spent a few hours talking to a man who has had a hard few weeks. He was recently laid off, his mother is ill, he broke up with a woman he imagined he could marry, and he was considering whether or not to return to a harmful addictive lifestyle that, he said, “might help me to at least forget for awhile.”
He told me that every day feels like the biggest struggle of his life, and that each day he wonders if it will be the day that everything falls apart. “The only way I get through the minutes,” he said, “Is by repeating a couple of words that my psychiatrist says are really powerful. I don’t know how it helps, but it does.”

Do what’s in front of you and leave the rest up to the universe.

Those particular words reminded me of a children’s story that somebody recently told me, and that I felt lucky enough to tell him!"Once upon a time, in a small village in China, a poor farmer’s only horse broke out of its stall and ran away. A neighbor came by and said, “You’re so unlucky to lose your only horse.” The farmer replied, “Maybe.”
The next day the farmer’s horse returned with three beautiful wild horses. The neighbor returned too, noticed the horses and said, “You’re the luckiest guy in the village!” The farmer replied ,”Maybe.”
The next day, the farmer’s only son broke his leg while trying to tame one of the wild horses. The incorrigible neighbor returned and said, “I pity you. You have the worst luck!” The farmer replied, “Maybe.”
The next day, the Chinese army marched through the village recruiting conscripts. The farmer’s son was passed over due to his broken leg. The neighbor exclaimed, “You must be the luckiest man alive….” The farmer replied, “Maybe.”

The lesson of the story was instantly clear to him. We don’t know. No matter what happens to us in life, no matter how bad or good things are, we have no idea what it means, and no idea where it will lead.
Which is a relief. Because it means that when difficult things happen, or when wonderful things happen, it’s all just part of life…which flows like a river from one experience to the next. And the best that we can do is make sure we stay on for the ride.
And that means, simply, not getting overwhelmed by hardships or carried away with successes, and instead… “doing what’s in front of us and leaving the rest up to the universe.”

Mormon Channel Radio Launches May 18, 2009

The Mormon Channel is a new audio service from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, found at radio.lds.org, broadcasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week from Temple Square in Salt Lake City.
The channel features content from the vast Church archives, including classic talks and other programming. Additionally, it will have a lot of new programs and series created specifically for this new service. Many Church partner organizations, including Bonneville Communications, Deseret Book, Deseret News, and the campuses of Brigham Young University have contributed content to the new station.
Among the new programs available on Mormon Channel is Conversations, an interview program featuring leaders of the LDS Church, as well as members of the Church with intriguing stories to share. Sheri Dew and Ruth Todd will host this new series.
Additional programming for Mormon Channel includes news of the Church, interactive programming for youth, dramatic radio productions, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, interviews with Church members around the globe, stories from Church and family history, and general conference addresses.

I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put them down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.

ANOTHER WOMAN

After many years of marriage, My wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and a movie. She said, 'I love you, but I know this other woman loves you and would love to spend some time with you.'
The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my MOTHER, who has been a widow for 19 years, but the demands of my work and my three children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally.
That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie.'What's wrong, are you well,' she asked? My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late night call or a surprise invitation a sign of bad news.'I thought that it would be pleasant to spend some time with you,' I responded. 'Just the two of us.'
She thought about it for a moment, and then said, 'I would like that very much.'
That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I as a bit nervous. When I arrived at her house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date.
She waited in the door with her coat on. She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary
She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an angel's. 'I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were very impressed,' she said, as she got into the car. 'They can't wait to hear about our meeting.'
We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy. My mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady. After we sat down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only read large print. Half way through the entries, I lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting there staring at me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips.
'It was I who used to have to read the menu when you were small,' she said.'Then it's time that you relax and let me return the favor, 'I responded.'
During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation, nothing extraordinary but catching up on recent events of each other's life. We talked so much that we missed the movie
As we arrived at her house later, she said, 'I'll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you.' I agreed.
' How was your dinner date?' asked my wife when I got home.'Very nice. Much more so than I could have imagined,' I answered.
A few days later, my mother died of a massive heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn't have a chance to do anything for her. Some time later, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place mother and I had dined. An attached note said: 'I paid this bill in advance. I wasn't sure that I could be there; but nevertheless, I paid for two plates - one for you and the other for your wife.
You will never know what that night meant for me. I love you, son.'
At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time: 'I LOVE YOU' and to give our loved ones the time that they deserve. Nothing in life is more important than your family. Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till 'some other time'

Después de varios años de matrimonio mi esposa me pidio que saliera con otra mujer. "Tú sabes que la amas - me dijo un día, tomándome por sorpresa - la vida es muy corta, dedícale tiempo"- "Pero yo te amo a ti" - protesté.- "Lo sé. Pero también la amas a Ella"
La otra mujer a quien mi esposa quería que yo visitara, era mi MADRE, viuda desde hace unos años; pero las exigencias de mi trabajo y mis hijos hacían que sólo la visitara ocasionalmente.
Esa noche la llamé para invitarla a cenar y al cine.- "¿Qué te ocurre? ¿Estás bien?" - me preguntó.
Mi Madre es el tipo de mujer que una llamada tarde, en la noche o una invitación sorpresa es indicio de malas noticias.- "Creí que sería agradable pasar algún tiempo contigo - le respondí - los dos solitos… ¿qué opinas?"Reflexionó sobre ello un momento:
- "Me gustaría muchísimo" - dijo.Ese viernes mientras conducía para recogerla después de mi trabajo me encontraba nervioso. Era el nerviosismo que antecede una cita… Y, cuando llegué a su casa, vi que Ella también estaba muy emocionada. Me esperaba en la puerta con su viejo abrigo puesto, se había rizado el cabello y usaba el vestido con que celebró su último aniversario de bodas, su rostro sonreía, irradiaba luz como un ángel.-"Les dije a mis amigas que iba a salir con mi hijo y se mostraron muy emocionadas - me comentó mientras subía a mi auto - No podrán esperar hasta mañana para escuchar acerca de nuestra velada"Fuimos a un restaurante no muy elegante, pero si muy acogedor. Mi Madre se aferró a mi brazo como si fuera "La Primera Dama de la Nación". Cuando nos sentamos tuve que leerle el menú… sus ojos sólo veían grandes figuras. Cuando iba por la mitad de las entradas, levante la vista; mi Madre estaba sentada al otro lado de la mesa y sólo me miraba. Una sonrisa nostálgica se le delineaba en los labios.-"Era Yo quien te leía el menú cuando eras pequeño. ¿Recuerdas?" - me dijo.-"Entonces es hora que te relajes y me permitas devolverte el favor" - respondí.
Durante la cena tuvimos una agradable conversación, nada extraordinario, sólo ponernos al día uno con la vida del otro. Hablamos tanto que perdimos el cine.
-"Saldré contigo otra vez, pero sólo si me dejas invitar" - dijo mi Madre cuando la llevé a su casa. Asentí, la besé, la abracé.
-"¿Cómo estuvo la cita?" - quiso saber mi esposa cuando llegué aquella noche.-"Muy agradable, gracias. Mucho más de lo que imaginé" - le contesté. Días más tarde mi Madre murió de un infarto masivo. Todo fue tan rápido… No pude hacer nada. Al poco tiempo recibí un sobre del restaurante donde habíamos cenado con mi Madre, y una nota que decía:
-“La cena está pagada por anticipado. Estaba casi segura que no podría estar allí, pero igual pagué para dos, para Ti y para tu Esposa. Jamás podrás entender lo que aquella noche significó para Mí. ¡TE AMO!”.
En ese momento comprendí la importancia de decir a tiempo “TE AMO” y darle a nuestros seres queridos el espacio que se merecen; nada en la vida será más importante que Dios y mi familia… hay que darles tiempo porque ellos no pueden esperar. Si está viva tu Madre… disfrútala. Si no… recuérdala. Dios perdona… pero el tiempo nunca perdona ni puede regresar.

When we understand the magnitude of motherhood, it becomes clear why prophets have been so protective of woman’s most sacred role. While we tend to equate motherhood solely with maternity, in the Lord’s language, the word mother has layers of meaning. Of all the words they could have chosen to define her role and her essence, both God the Father and Adam called Eve “the mother of all living”—and they did so before she ever bore a child. Like Eve, our motherhood began before we were born. Just as worthy men were foreordained to hold the priesthood in mortality, righteous women were endowed premortally with the privilege of motherhood. Motherhood is more than bearing children, though it is certainly that. It is the essence of who we are as women. It defines our very identity, our divine stature and nature, and the unique traits our Father gave us.
Nevertheless, the subject of motherhood is a very tender one, for it evokes some of our greatest joys and heartaches. This has been so from the beginning. Eve was “glad” after the Fall, realizing she otherwise “never should have had seed.” And yet, imagine her anguish over Cain and Abel. Some mothers experience pain because of the children they have borne; others feel pain because they do not bear children here. About this Elder John A. Widtsoe was explicit: “Women who through no fault of their own cannot exercise the gift of motherhood directly, may do so vicariously.”
For reasons known to the Lord, some women are required to wait to have children. This delay is not easy for any righteous woman. But the Lord’s timetable for each of us does not negate our nature. Some of us, then, must simply find other ways to mother. And all around us are those who need to be loved and led.
We just can’t let the Lord down. And if the day comes when we are the only women on earth who find nobility and divinity in motherhood, so be it. For mother is the word that will define a righteous woman made perfect in the highest degree of the celestial kingdom, a woman who has qualified for eternal increase in posterity, wisdom, joy, and influence.
I know, I absolutely know, that these doctrines about our divine role are true, and that when understood they bring peace and purpose to all women. My dear sisters, whom I love more than I know how to express, will you rise to the challenge of being mothers in these perilous times, though doing so may test the last ounce of your endurance and courage and faith? Will you stand steadfast and immovable as a mother in Israel and a woman of God? Our Father and His Only Begotten Son have given us a sacred stewardship and a holy crown in their kingdom. May we rejoice in it. And may we be worthy of Their trust. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Cuando llegamos a comprender la gran importancia de la maternidad, se hace evidente por qué los profetas han sido tan protectores con la función más sagrada de la mujer. Aunque solemos equiparar exclusivamente la maternidad con el tener hijos, según la emplea el Señor, la palabra madre tiene diversos significados. De entre todas las palabras que pudieron haber utilizado para definir su función y su esencia, tanto Dios el Padre como Adán llamaron a Eva "la madre de todos los vivientes", y lo hicieron antes de que tuviera hijo alguno. Al igual que Eva, nuestra maternidad se inició antes de nacer. Así como los varones justos fueron preordenados para recibir el sacerdocio en la vida terrenal, las mujeres justas fueron dotadas en la existencia preterrenal del privilegio de la maternidad. La maternidad es más que dar a luz hijos. Se trata de la esencia de quiénes somos como mujeres. Define nuestra identidad, nuestra estatura y naturaleza divinas, así como los rasgos exclusivos que nos ha dado nuestro Padre.
No obstante, el asunto de la maternidad es bastante delicado, pues evoca algunas de nuestras mayores dichas y de nuestros más grandes pesares como mujeres. Esto ha sido así desde el principio. Eva se "regocijó" tras la Caída al darse cuenta de que, de no haber ocurrido así, "nunca habríamos tenido posteridad". Y pese a ello, imaginen su angustia con lo sucedido entre Caín y Abel. Algunas madres padecen por causa de los hijos que han tenido; otras sufren por no haber tenido hijos en esta vida. El élder John A. Widtsoe fue muy claro al respecto: "Las mujeres que, sin culpa alguna de su parte, no pueden ejercer el don de la maternidad, pueden hacerlo de forma vicaria".
Por motivos que el Señor conoce, a algunas mujeres se les requiere esperar a tener hijos. Ese retraso puede resultar incómodo a cualquier mujer recta; pero el horario que el Señor dispone para cada una de nosotras no anula nuestra naturaleza. Por lo tanto, algunas simplemente debemos buscar otras formas de ser madres, y todos los que están a nuestro alrededor son los que necesitan ser amados y guiados.
Simplemente no podemos decepcionar al Señor. Y si llega el día en que seamos las únicas mujeres sobre la faz de la tierra que consideren la maternidad como algo noble y divino, que así sea, puesto que madre es la palabra que definirá a la mujer recta hecha perfecta en el grado más alto del reino celestial, la mujer que se haya hecho merecedora de tener aumento eterno traducido en posteridad, sabiduría, dicha e influencia.
Sé, con absoluta certeza, que estas doctrinas sobre nuestra función divina son verdaderas, y que cuando se entienden brindan paz y sentido a toda mujer. Mis queridas hermanas, a quienes amo más de lo que me es posible expresar, ¿aceptarán el reto de ser madres en estos tiempos peligrosos, aunque al hacerlo sean probadas hasta la última gota de su perseverancia, su valor y su fe? ¿Permanecerán firmes e inmutables como madres en Israel y como mujeres de Dios? Nuestro Padre y Su Hijo Unigénito nos han dado una mayordomía sagrada y una corona santa en Su reino. Ruego que nos regocijemos en ello y que seamos dignas de Su confianza. WOMEN

By the time the Lord made woman,
he was into his sixth day of working overtime.
An angel appeared and said,
"Why are you spending so much time on this one?"
And the Lord answered,
"Have you seen my spec sheet on her?
She has to be completely washable, but not plastic,
have over 200 movable parts, all replaceable
and able to run on diet coke and leftovers,
have a lap that can hold four children at one time,
have a kiss that can cure anything
from a scraped knee to a broken heart
and she will do everything with only two hands."
The angel was astounded at the requirements.
"Only two hands!? No way!
And that's just on the standard model?
That's too much work for one day.
Wait until tomorrow to finish."
But I won't," the Lord protested.
"I am so close to finishing this creation
that is so close to my own heart.
She already heals herself when she is sick
And can work 18 hour days."
The angel moved closer and touched the woman.
"But you have made her so soft, Lord."
"She is soft," the Lord agreed,
"but I have also made her tough.
You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish."
"Will she be able to think?", asked the angel.
The Lord replied,
"Not only will she be able to think,
she will be able to reason and negotiate."
The angel then noticed something,
and reaching out, touched the woman's cheek.
"Oops, it looks like you have a leak in this model.
I told you that you were trying to put too much into this one."
"That's not a leak," the Lord corrected,
"that's a tear!"
"What's the tear for?" the angel asked.
The Lord said,”
The tear is her way of expressing her joy, her sorrow,
her pain, her disappointment, her love,
her loneliness, her grief and her pride."
The angel was impressed. "You are a genius, Lord.
You thought of everything! Woman is truly amazing."
And she is!
Women have strengths that amaze men.

They bear hardships and they carry burdens,
but they hold happiness, love and joy.

They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.

They cry when they are happy
and laugh when they are nervous.

They cry when their children excel
and cheer when their friends get awards.

They are happy when they hear about a birth or a wedding.

Their hearts break when a friend dies.

They grieve at the loss of a family member,
yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.

They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.

They fight for what they believe in.

They stand up to injustice.

They don't take "no" for an answer
when they believe there is a better solution.

They go without so their family can have.

They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.

They love unconditionally.
Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.

They'll drive, fly, walk, run or call you
to show how much they care about you.

"The heart of a woman

is what makes the world keep turning".

They bring joy, hope and love.

They have compassion and ideals.

They give moral support to their family and friends.

Women have vital things to say and everything to give.
However, If There Is One Flaw In Women,

It Is That They Forget Their Worth!

LA MUJER

Cuando Dios creo a la mujer,

ya estaba en su sexto día de extenso trabajo.

Un ángel apareció y le dijo:

"Por qué pones tanto tiempo en ésta creacion?"

Y El Señor contestó:

"Has visto mi Hoja de Especificaciones para ella?

Debe ser completamente lavable,

pero no ser de plástico,

tener más de 200 piezas movibles, todas cambiables

y ser capaz de funcionar con una dieta de cualquier cosa y sobras,

tener un regazo que pueda acomodar cuatro niños al mismo tiempo,

Y puede trabajar 18 horas al dia.

"El ángel se acercó más y tocó a la mujer.

"Es suave", dijo Dios, pero la he hecho también fuerte.

No tienes idea de lo que puede aguantar o lograr.
"Será capaz de pensar?" preguntó el ángel.
Dios contestó:

"No solamente será capaz de pensar

sino que razonar y de negociar"
El ángel entonces notó algo

y alargando la mano tocó la mejilla de la mujer....
"Señor, parece que este modelo tiene una fuga...

Te dije que estabas tratando de poner

demasiadas cosas en ella"
"Eso no es ninguna fuga...es una lágrima"

lo corrigió El Señor.
"Para qué es la lágrima,"
preguntó el ángel. Y Dios dijo:
"Las lágrimas son su manera de expresar

su dicha,su pena, su desengaño, su amor,

su soledad, su sufrimiento, y su orgullo."
Esto impresionó mucho al ángel
"Eres un genio,Señor, pensaste en todo".

La mujer es verdaderamente maravillosa
"Lo es!"

La mujer tiene fuerzas

que maravillan a los hombres.
Aguantan dificultades,

llevan grandes cargas,

pero tienen felicidad, amor y dicha.
Sonríen cuando quieren gritar.
Cantan cuando quieren llorar.

Lloran cuando están felicesy ríen cuando están nerviosas.
Luchan por lo que creen.

Se enfrentan a la injusticia.

No aceptan "no" por respuesta

cuando ellas creen que hay una solución mejor.
Se privan para que su familia pueda tener.
Van al médico con una amiga que tiene miedo de ir.

Now I would speak of something that is most sacred. When we were created, Father in Heaven put in our body the capacity to stir powerful emotions. Within the covenant of marriage, when properly used in ways acceptable to both and to the Lord, those emotions open the doors for children to come to earth. Such sacred expressions of love are an essential part of the covenant of marriage. Within marriage, however, the stimulation of those emotions can either be used as an end unto itself or to allow a couple to draw closer in oneness through the beautiful, appropriate expression of these feelings between husband and wife. There are times, brethren, when you need to restrain those feelings. There are times when you need to allow their full expression. Let the Lord guide you in ways that will enrich your marriage.

There are men, and unfortunately some women, who experiment with stimulating those emotions by influences outside of the covenant of marriage. There is a great difference between love and lust. Pure love yields happiness and engenders trust. It is the foundation of eternal joy. Lust will destroy that which is enriching and beautiful. A husband must have no private, hidden agenda that is kept secret from his wife. Sharing everything about each other's personal life is powerful spiritual insurance. When you travel, take along a picture of your wife. Set it before you. Remember how you are loved and trusted. You will not be tempted to contaminate your mind or violate your covenants.

One of the most damning influences on earth, one that has caused uncountable grief, suffering, heartache, and destroyed marriages is the onslaught of pornography in all of its vicious, corroding, destructive forms. Whether it be through the printed page, movies, television, obscene lyrics, the telephone, or on a flickering personal computer screen, pornography is overpoweringly addictive and severely damaging. This potent tool of Lucifer degrades the mind, heart, and the soul of any who use it. All who are caught in its seductive, tantalizing web and remain so, will become addicted to its immoral, destructive influence. For many, that addiction cannot be overcome without help. The tragic pattern is so familiar. It begins with a curiosity that is fueled by its stimulation and is justified by the false premise that when done privately, it does no harm to anyone else. Lulled by this lie, the experimentation goes deeper, with more powerful stimulations, until the web closes and a terribly immoral, addictive habit is formed.

How can a man, particularly a priesthood bearer, not think of the damage emotionally and spiritually caused to women, especially to a wife, from such abhorrent activity? The participation in pornography in any of its lurid forms is a manifestation of unbridled selfishness.

Well did inspired Nephi declare, "And [the devil] will . . . pacify, and lull them away into carnal security, . . . and thus [he] cheateth their souls, and leadeth them away carefully down to hell." 2 Nephi 28:21

Stake presidents and bishops, warn of this evil. Invite any captured by it to come to you for help

Ahora quisiera hablar de algo sumamente sagrado. Cuando fuimos creados, nuestro Padre Celestial puso en nuestro cuerpo la capacidad de despertar poderosas emociones. Dentro del convenio del matrimonio, esas emociones, cuando se usan de maneras aceptables para ambos y para el Señor, abren la puerta para que los hijos vengan a la tierra. Esas sagradas expresiones de amor son parte esencial del convenio del matrimonio. No obstante, dentro del matrimonio, el estímulo de esas emociones puede ser para un fin en sí, o para permitir que la pareja se acerque en unidad mediante la bella y apropiada expresión de esos sentimientos entre marido y mujer. Hermanos, hay ocasiones en que deben refrenar esos sentimientos; hay veces en que deben dar plena expresión a esos sentimientos. Permitan que el Señor les guíe en las formas que enriquecerán su matrimonio.

Hay hombres, y lamentablemente algunas mujeres, que estimulan esas emociones mediante influencias que están fuera del convenio del matrimonio. Hay una gran diferencia entre el amor y la lujuria. El amor puro produce felicidad y engendra la confianza. Es el fundamento del gozo eterno. La lujuria destruirá lo que es ennoblecedor y bello. El esposo no debe tener asuntos privados que mantenga en secreto de su esposa. El compartirse mutuamente todo en cuanto a la vida personal es un poderoso seguro espiritual. Cuando viajes, lleva contigo una fotografía de tu esposa; ponla donde la puedas ver. Recuerda cuánto se te ama y se te confía y no serás tentado a contaminar tu mente o a quebrantar tus convenios.

Una de las influencias más atroces de la tierra, una que ha causado incontable angustia y sufrimiento, dolor y matrimonios desechos es la avalancha de pornografía en todas sus formas depravadas, corrosivas y destructivas. Ya sea a través de la página impresa, películas, televisión, canciones obscenas, el teléfono o en la titilante pantalla de la computadora personal, la pornografía es tremendamente adictiva y gravemente perjudicial. Esta potente herramienta de Lucifer degrada la mente, el corazón y el alma de cualquiera que la use. Todos los que queden atrapados en su red seductora y tentadora, y continúen así, llegarán a hacerse adictos a su influencia inmoral y destructiva. Para muchos, esa adicción no se puede superar sin ayuda. ¿Cómo un hombre, en particular un poseedor del sacerdocio, no piensa en el daño emocional y espiritual que le causa a las mujeres, especialmente a su esposa, con esa abominable actividad? El participar en la pornografía, en cualquiera de sus formas morbosas, es una manifestación del egoísmo desenfrenado.

Con razón el inspirado Nefi declaró: "Y. . . [el diablo] los. . . pacificará y los adormecerá con seguridad carnal. . . y así [él] engaña sus almas, y los conduce astutamente al infierno" 2 Nefi 28:21.

Presidentes de estaca y obispos: amonesten en cuanto a esa maldad, e inviten a cualquiera que haya caído en ella a acudir a ustedes en busca de ayuda.

No había en el pueblo peor oficio que el de portero del hotel. Pero que otra cosa podría hacer aquel hombre? De hecho, nunca había aprendido a leer ni a escribir, no tenía ninguna otra actividad ni oficio. Un día se hizo cargo del hotel un joven con inquietudes, creativo y emprendedor. El joven decidiómodernizar el negocio. Hizo cambios y después cito al personal para darle nuevas instrucciones. Al portero, le dijo: "A partir de hoy usted, además de estar en la puerta, me va a preparar un reporte semanal donde registrará la cantidad de personas que entren por día y anotará sus comentarios y recomendaciones sobre el servicio..." El hombre tembló; nunca le había faltado disposición al trabajo, pero...-"Me encantaría satisfacerlo, señor - balbuceó – pero yo...yo no sé leer ni escribir...""¡Ah! Cuánto lo siento!" "Pero señor, usted no me puede despedir, - yo trabajé en esto toda mi vida..." No lo dejó terminar: "Mire, yo comprendo, pero no puedo hacer nada por usted. Le vamos a dar una indemnización para que tenga hasta que encuentre otra cosa. Así que, lo siento. Que tenga suerte... " Y sin más, dio vuelta y se fue.

El hombre sintió que el mundo se derrumbaba. Nunca había pensado que podría llegar a encontrarse en esa situación. Qué hacer? Recordó que en el hotel, cuando se rompía una silla se arruinaba una mesa, él, con un martillo y clavos lograba hacer un arreglo sencillo y provisorio. Pensó que esta podría ser una ocupación transitoria hasta conseguir un empleo. El problema es que solo contaba con unos clavos oxidados y unas pinzas muy viejas. Entonces decidió usar parte del dinero para comprar una caja de herramientas. Como en el pueblo no había una ferretería,debía viajar dos días en mula para ir al pueblo más
cercano a realizar la compra. "¿Qué más da?", pensó, y emprendió la marcha.
A su regreso, traía una hermosa y completa caja de herramientas. De inmediato su vecino llamó a la puerta de su casa: "Vengo a preguntarle si no tiene un martillo para prestarme..." "Mire, si, lo acabo de comprar pero lo necesito para trabajar... como me quedé sin empleo..." "Bueno, pero yo se lo devolvería mañana bien temprano." El portero accedió y le prestó el martillo. A la mañana siguiente, como había prometido, el vecino tocó a la puerta:-"Mire, yo todavía necesito el martillo. ¿Por qué no me lo vende?" No, yo lo necesito para trabajar y además, la ferretería esta a dos días en mula. "Hagamos un trato - dijo el vecino - Yo le pagare los dos dias de ida y de vuelta, más el precio del martillo, total usted está sin trabajar. ¿Qué le parece?" Realmente, esto le daba trabajo por cuatro días... Aceptó.
Volvió a montar su mula. Al regreso, otro vecino lo esperaba en la puerta de su casa: "Hola, vecino. ¿Usted le vendió un martillo a nuestro amigo?" "Si, así es..." "Mire, yo necesito unas herramientas, y estoy dispuesto a pagarle sus cuatro días de viaje, más una pequeña ganancia. Yo no dispongo de tiempo para el viaje." El ex-portero abrió su caja de herramientas y su vecino eligió una pinza, un destornillador, un martillo y un cincel. Le pagó y se fue.
El ex-portero pensó entonces que mucha gente podrí anecesitar que él viajara a traer herramientas de las que había vendido. De paso, podría ahorrar algún tiempo de viajes. La voz empezó a correrse por el barrio y muchos quisieron evitarse el viaje. Una vez por semana, el ahora corredor de herramientas viajaba y compraba lo que necesitaban sus clientes. Alquiló un carretón para almacenar las herramientas y algunas semanas después alquiló un cuarto que se convirtió en la primera ferretería del pueblo. Todos estaban contentos y compraban en su negocio. Ya no viajaba, los fabricantes le enviaban sus pedidos. Él era un buen cliente.
Con el tiempo, las comunidades cercanas preferían comprar en su ferretería y ganar dos días de marcha. Un día se le ocurrió que su amigo, el tornero, podría fabricar para él las cabezas de los martillos. Y luego, ¿por qué no? Las tenazas..y las pinzas...y los cinceles. Y luego fueron los clavos y los tornillos. Para no hacer muy largo el cuento, sucedió que en diez años aquel hombre se transformó con honestidad y trabajo en un millonario fabricante de herramientas. Un día decidió donar a su pueblo una escuela. Ahí se enseñaría, además de leer y escribir, las artes y oficios más prácticos de la época.
En el acto de inauguración de la escuela, el alcalde le entregó las llaves de la ciudad, lo abrazó y le dijo:
Es con un gran orgullo y gratitud que le pedimos nos conceda el honor de poner su firma en la primera hoja del libro de actas de la nueva escuela." "El honor sería para mí - dijo el hombre -Creo que nada me gustaría más que firmar allí, pero yo no sé leer ni escribir. Soy analfabeto." "¿Usted? - dijo el Alcalde, que no alcanzaba a creerlo. ¿Usted construyó un imperio industrial sin saber leer ni escribir? Estoy asombrado. Me pregunto, ¿qué hubiera sido de usted si hubiera sabido leery escribir?" -"Yo se lo puedo contestar respondió el hombre con calma -Si yo hubiera sabido leer y escribir...sería portero del hotel!"

Young men are the substance of a great missionary program whose influence is felt throughout the world. Altogether, you are men and boys who have taken on the whole armor of God to move forward His work in the earth.

I think, my brethren, that our Father in Heaven smiles down upon us. I think it must be of great comfort to Him to look upon the hundreds of thousands of men and boys who love Him, who carry in their hearts a testimony of Him and His Beloved Son, who give leadership and direction to His Church, who stand as heads of families where there is righteousness and where truth is taught and exemplified.

We have become a great body of men, young and old. There is scarcely anything we cannot accomplish if we work unitedly together with one mind and one purpose and one heart.

I hope that each of us is aware of the tremendous thing that has come to us with ordination to the priesthood. This is the authority of God in the earth. It comes from Him as a divine bestowal. It carries with it the power and the authority to govern in the affairs of the Church. It carries with it the power and the authority to bless in the name of the Lord, to lay hands upon the sick and call down the powers of heaven. It is sacred and holy. It partakes of the divine. Its authority is expressed in mortality and reaches beyond the veil of death.

I hope we are worthy of the priesthood we bear. I plead with you, every one of you, to conduct your lives in such a way as to be worthy of it.

As we have been reminded, this is a season of great evil in the world. No one needs to be reminded of that. We are constantly exposed to the muck and filth of pornography, to salacious and evil behavior totally unbecoming anyone who holds the priesthood of God.

It is a challenge to work in the world and live above its filth.

Dishonesty is rampant. It is manifest in cheating that goes on in schools, in the operation of clever schemes, in businesses that rob and defraud. Temptations are everywhere about us; unfortunately, some succumb to these.

Brethren, be strong. Rise above the evils of the world. We need not be prudish. We need not adopt a holier-than-thou attitude. We need only let our personal integrity, our sense of right and wrong, and simple honesty govern our actions.

Let us live the gospel in our homes. Let there be an honest manifestation of love between husbands and wives, between children and their parents. Control the voice of anger. Be absolutely loyal one to another.

Simply "do what is right [and] let the consequence follow" (Hymns, no. 237). So live that each morning you may kneel in prayer, seeking the direction and guidance of the Holy Spirit, as well as its protective power, as you go about your work of the day. So live that each night, before retiring, you may come before the Lord in prayer without shame or embarrassment or the need to plead for forgiveness. I do not hesitate to say that God will bless you if you will do so. Someday you will grow old and look back upon your life. You will be able to say: "I lived with integrity. I cheated no one, not even myself. I reveled in the companionship of my wife, who is the mother of our children. I am proud of those children. I am grateful to God for His manifest blessings."

If such can be your lot, I promise that when the shades of old age gather about you, there will be tears of gratitude in your eyes and the throbbing of a thankful heart beating in your breast.

Creo que debe ser un gran consuelo para Él contemplar a los cientos de miles de hombres y de muchachos que le aman, que llevan un testimonio de Él y de Su hijo Amado en el corazón, que brindan dirección a Su Iglesia, que están a la cabeza de sus familias en las que hay rectitud y donde se enseña y se ejemplifica la verdad.
Tenemos un numeroso grupo de hombres, jóvenes y mayores. No hay casi nada que no podamos realizar si trabajamos juntos y unidos con una sola voluntad, con un solo propósito y con un solo corazón.
Confío en que cada uno de nosotros sea consciente del prodigio que hemos recibido con la ordenación al sacerdocio. Ésta es la autoridad de Dios en la tierra. Viene de Él como un don divino. Comprende el poder y la autoridad para regular los asuntos de la Iglesia. Comprende el poder y la autoridad para bendecir en el nombre del Señor, para poner las manos sobre los enfermos e invocar los poderes del cielo. Es sagrado y santo. Participa de lo divino. Su autoridad se manifiesta en la vida terrenal y llega más allá del velo de la muerte.
Espero que seamos dignos del sacerdocio que poseemos. Ruego a cada uno de ustedes que lleve las riendas de su vida de tal manera que sea digno de él.
Tal como se nos ha recordado, ésta es una época de gran maldad en el mundo. No hace falta recordar eso a nadie. Estamos constantemente expuestos a la inmundicia y a la suciedad de la pornografía, al comportamiento lascivo y maligno, totalmente impropio del que posee el sacerdocio de Dios.
Es un desafío trabajar en el mundo y vivir por encima de su inmundicia.
La falta de honradez está muy extendida. Se manifiesta en el hacer trampa en las escuelas, en el manejo de hábiles confabulaciones, en negocios que roban y estafan. Las tentaciones están en todas partes a nuestro alrededor y, lamentablemente, algunos sucumben a ellas.
Hermanos, sean fuertes. Elévense por encima de la maldad del mundo. No es necesario que seamos mojigatos. No hace falta que adoptemos una actitud santurrona. Sólo es preciso que nuestra integridad personal, nuestro sentido del bien y del mal y la sencilla honradez gobiernen nuestros actos.
Vivamos el Evangelio en nuestro hogar. Que haya allí una sincera manifestación de amor entre marido y mujer, entre los hijos y sus padres. Dominen la voz del enojo. Sean absolutamente leales el uno con el otro.
Simplemente "hagan lo justo y dejen que sobrevengan las consecuencias" (Hymns, Nº 237). Vivan de tal manera que todas las mañanas puedan arrodillarse para orar y buscar la orientación y la guía del Espíritu Santo, así como Su poder protector, al emprender su trabajo del día. Vivan de tal manera que cada noche, antes de acostarse, puedan ir ante el Señor en oración sin turbación ni vergüenza y sin la necesidad de suplicar el perdón. No dudo en decir que Dios los bendecirá si lo hacen. Un día llegarán a viejos y mirarán hacia atrás en el camino de su vida. Podrán decir: "He vivido con integridad. No he engañado a nadie, ni siquiera a mí mismo. Me he deleitado en compañía de mi esposa que es la madre de mis hijos. Estoy orgulloso de mis hijos. Estoy agradecido a Dios por Sus evidentes bendiciones".
Si ése puede ser el resultado final de su vida, les prometo que cuando las señales de la vejez se manifiesten en ustedes, lágrimas de gratitud les inundarán los ojos y experimentarán la profunda emoción del agradecimiento.

As I jumped on board my flight from Miami to Salt Lake City, I paused for a moment to catch my breath. Seated near the front of the plane was an excited young man, probably 19, sitting with his parents. His hair was short and his clothes new and sharp. His suit was fitted perfectly and his black shoes still retained that store bought shine. His body was in good shape, his face clear, and his hands clean. In his eyes I could see a nervous look, and his movements were that of an actor on opening night. He was obviously flying to Utah to become a missionary for the Mormon Church. I smiled as I walked by and took pride in belonging to this same Church where these young men and women voluntarily serve the Savior for two years.

With this special feeling, I continued to the back where my seat was located. As I sat in my seat, I looked to the right and to my surprise, saw another missionary sleeping in the window seat. His hair was also short, but that was the only similarity between the two. This one was obviously returning home, and I could tell at a glance what type of missionary he had been.The fact that he was already asleep told me a lot. His entire body seemed to let out a big sigh. It looked as if this was the first time in two years he had even slept, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was. As I looked at his face, I could see the heavy bags under his eyes, the chapped lips, and the scarred and sunburned face caused by the fierce Florida sun. His suit was tattered and worn. A few of the seams were coming apart, and I noticed that there were a couple of tears that had been hand-sewn with a very sloppy stitch.

I saw the nametag, crooked, scratched and bearing the name of the Church he represented, the engraving of which was almost all worn away. I saw the knee of his pants, worn and white, the result of many hours of humble prayer.A tear came to my eye as I saw the things that really told me what kind of missionary he had been. I saw the marks that made this boy, a man. His feet - the two that had carried him from house to house, now lay there swollen and tired. They were covered by a pair of worn-out shoes. Many of the large scrapes and gouges had been filled in by the countless number of polishing.His books - laying across his lap were his scriptures, the word of God. Once new, these books which testify of Jesus Christ and His mission were now torn, bent, and ragged from use.His hands - those big, strong hands, which had been used to bless and teach, were now scarred and cut from knocking at doors. Those were indeed the marks of that man. And as I looked at him, I saw the marks of another man, the Savior, as he was hanging on the cross for the sins of the world.His feet - those that had once carried him throughout the land during his ministry, were now nailed to the cross. His side - now pierced with a spear. Sealing his gospel, his testimony with his life.His hands - the hands that had been used to ordain his servants and bless the sick were also scarred with the nails that were pounded to hang him on the cross. Those were the marks of that great man.

As my mind returned to the missionary, my whole body seemed to swell with pride and joy, because I knew, by looking at him, that he had served his Master well.My joy was so great, I felt like running to the front of the plane, grabbing that new, young missionary, and bringing him back to see what he can become, what he can do.But would he see the things that I saw, could anyone see the things I saw? Or would he just see the outward appearance of that mighty elder, tired and worn out, almost dead.As we landed, I reached over and tapped him to wake him up. As he awoke, it seemed like new life was entering his body. His whole frame just seemed to fill as he stood up, tall and proud. As he turned his face towards mine, I saw a light about his face that I had never seen before. I looked into his eyes. Those eyes, I will never forget those eyes. They were the eyes of a prophet, a leader, a follower, and a servant. They were the eyes of the Savior. No words were spoken. No words were needed.As we unloaded, I stepped aside to let him go first.

I watched as he walked, slow but steady, tired but strong. I followed him and found myself walking the way that he did. When I came through the doors, I saw this young man in the arms of his parents, and I couldn't hold it any longer.With tears streaming down my face, I watched these loving parents greet their son who had been away for a short time. And I wondered if our parents in Heaven would greet us the same way. Will they wrap their arms around us and welcome us home from our journey on earth? I believe they will. I just hope that I can be worthy enough to receive such praise, as I'm sure this missionary will.I said a silent prayer, thanking the Lord for missionaries like this young man. I don't think I will ever forget the joy and happiness he brought me that day. Well done, thou good and faithful servant!

Just for this morning, I am going to smile when I see your face and laugh when I feel like crying.

Just for this morning, I will leave the dishes in the sink, and let you teach me how to put that puzzle of yours together.
Just for this afternoon, I will unplug the telephone and keep the computer off, and sit with you in the backyard and blow bubbles..
Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble when you scream and whine for the ice cream truck, and I will buy you one if he comes by.
Just for this afternoon, I won't worry about what you are going to be when you grow up, or second guess every decision I have made where you are concerned.
Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I won't stand over you trying to fix them.
Just for this afternoon, I will take us to McDonald's and buy us both a Happy Meal so you can have both toys..
Just for this evening, I will hold you in my arms and tell you a story about how you were born and how much I love you.
Just for this evening, I will let you splash in the tub and not get angry.
Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the porch and count all the stars.
Just for this evening, I will snuggle beside you for hours, and miss my favorite TV shows.
Just for this evening when I run my finger through your hair as you pray, I will simply be grateful that God has given me the greatest gift ever given. I will think about the mothers and fathers who are searching for their missing children, the mothers and fathers who are visiting their children's graves instead of their bedrooms, and mothers and fathers who are in hospital rooms watching their children suffer senselessly, and screaming inside that they can't handle it anymore. And when I kiss you good night I will hold you a little tighter, a little longer. It is then, that I will thank God for you, and ask him for nothing, except one more day...

Malachi 3:3 says: "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver." Refiner's Fire
A group of women were studying the third chapter of the book of Malachi. The third verse, "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver,” puzzled them and they wondered what this statement meant about the nature of God. One woman offered to find out about the process of refining silver and report back at their next session.

That week this woman called up a silver smith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest in silver beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver. As she watched the silver smith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities. The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot--then she thought again about the verse, that he sits as a refiner and purifier of silver.

She asked the silver smith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined. The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left even a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed. The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silver smith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?"

He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy--when I see my image in it."
